Netflix has already firmly established its corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the TV shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage earning critical acclaim, award nominations, and plenty of respect and admiration from fans - who have embraced the darker, grittier tone that the Netflix shows have adapted. Already loosely connected by recurring characters, Netflix’s Marvel offerings will combine to bring The Defenders to our screens later this year; but before that, there’s one more superhero to enter the fray.
Iron Fist will follow Danny Rand; a young man gifted in the martial arts who has the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist. Finn Jones takes on the central role, with Rosario Dawson once again reprising her role as Claire Temple from past Marvel and Netflix TV shows. Jessica Henwick and Jessica Stroup will also costar in the series. Ahead of Iron Fist’s debut on Netflix this spring, the list of episode titles and directors has appeared online, thanks to the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) having rated and graded each episode in order to classify the DVD box set.

Netflix have once again pulled in some of the respected directors of the comic book genre here; in fact, most of them have prior episodes of a Marvel/Netflix show under their belt. John Dahl takes the helm for the first two Iron Fist episodes, setting the tone and pace of the show. He has a strong of directorial credits to his name, including an episode of Jessica Jones, as well as episodes of Hannibal, House of Cards, and The Affair. Tom Shankland also directed for House of Cards, and most recently helmed an episode of Luke Cage, while Uta Briesewitz directs one episode, following on from her one episode of Jessica Jones. Elsewhere, she has also worked as director on another popular Netflix show, Orange is the New Black.
Farren Blackburn has previously directed Daredevil, while Kevin Tancharoen has not worked on a Marvel show on Netflix - but he has directed for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Wilkinson and Chow have not directed a comic book TV series before, but still have plenty of credits to their names, while Stephen Surjik has worked on Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage; so he comes at Iron Fist from a very experienced angle.
As for the episode titles? Well, those are open to speculation and interpretation as always, but for what it’s worth, the BBFC has rated every episode as being suitable for persons aged 15 or over, apart from episode 11, which is rated 12, and episode 7, which is rated 18 for its strong martial arts based, bloody violence. Because of that one episode, the entire season of Iron Fist will be rated an 18 when it is released on DVD in the U.K.
Daredevil season 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are now available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17. The Defenders and The Punisher will arrive at some point this year. Premiere dates for the newest seasons of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage have not yet been revealed.
