So, the question is Avon cruelty-free or not? Here’s is the answer to your question
Does Avon use animals to test their product?
Avon vow for the respect of animals that their product is safe. Avon is the first company that put an end to animal testing for their product. In 1989, Avon decided that they no longer practice animal testing for their products. They claimed that their products are safe and they have introduced safer methods to test their cosmetic product that doesn’t involve a testing animal. Testing that doesn’t involve any animals is called as in virto, they are more of computer simulations and test their product by volunteering humans.
Avon company claims that they don’t use animal testing in the product that is selling in the U.S. but some countries require animal testing by law. Avon was the first brand to end animal testing, they do not use animal testing today. They use a non-animal product to test safely. But some countries require animal testing, to resolve this matter Avon company tried to convince them to help them to work in advancing the alternative of non-animal testing methods if the government of any county refuses them to do so and their laws do not allow it then they have to fulfil the requirement of the law and do the required testing they ask. So, in that case, they have to use animal testing and their products selling in that specific country are not cruelty-free.
Cruelty-free or not
We cannot say that Avon company is 100% cruelty-free. They have to test on animals to meet the local law of the country where they have partnerships with the organization. Therefore, Avon is not cruelty-free, they may have to test either for the country or themselves.
Why it is difficult to sell cruelty-free products?
All the beauty product companies face the same issue because people nowadays prefer more organic products and they want their products to be cruelty-free. The very first reason for the usage of the cruelty-free product makes people feel good about their moral thoughts that they are supporting animal protection. Some of the people are animal lovers and they want to protect animals. The government is also taking steps for animal protection and forbidding many acts that lead to harming animal’s life. This supports the rights of animals and also helps in the well-being of the environment. Using cruelty-free products comes with several benefits as well like it is more good for the environment, for animal’s rights protection, cruelty-free products are of less price and affordable, reduce waste, etc.
Globallycruelty-free company or not?
So, despite the laws of the many countries stating that it is important according to their law to have an animal- test, Avon company managed to disturb their product in those jurisdictions. So, Avon is not a globally cruelty-free company. According to People for ethical treatment for animals, PETA has not included Avon company in their list of being the cruelty-free brand. Because products that are being sold by the Avon company are cruelty- free but other countries where their laws require companies to pay for animal testing to sell their product in that country. So, Avon is that company that falls under the category which practices animal testing where the law is required.
PETA certified
Avon tried to put an end to regulatory requirements to the countries to have the animal testing of products to be sold in their country in 2019. Avon is the first beauty company that successfully sell its product in China to stop all the cruelty tests on animals and the product’s ingredients. They introduced new ways and new products to their customers that don’t require any animal testing and is cruelty-free like reformulating product. Since then PETA (People for the ethical treatment of animals) added Avon company under their list of ‘working for regulatory change’.
Conclusion:
We can say that now in the current situation Avon has worked hard to make their products cruelty-free and provide their customers with the best they can. They worked to change their category of the list under PETA from not being the cruelty-free company to working for the regulatory change. In the coming time, it can be possible that Avon falls under the category of a cruelty-free product completely.
