A French skincare company Caudalie is known for its harnessing extract products and specializes in the beauty therapy process “Vinotherapie.” The company was founded in Paris, France, in 1995 by Mathilda Thomas and Bertrand Thomas.

Although the company trademarks that it is a grape-oriented skincare product, the question is, Is Caudalie 100%vegan and cruelty-free? Most of you must be thinking about this question, some may be knowing answer to this question, but most of them may be confused. There are a lot of blogs and answers for this question on the internet, but still, people are confused. In the article, all your doubts and confusion about Caudalie and questions about it being cruelty-free will be answered.

Is caudaline cruelty-free?

This French beauty brand is known for its grape and grapevine extracted skincare products, but Caudaline is not cruelty-free.

Most of the products get tested on animals during manufacturing. The company pays a lot of money for this testing as it is against the law, but in some Asian countries, the law asks to get the test done before importing the product.

Example: Caudalie sells its products in China, where the law says it is mandatory to do product testing on the animal before most imported cosmetic products. In Jan 2018, Caudalie made a statement and originally published a post that “Caudalie is against animal testing, we never tested any products on animal and we never will. As per European regulations, we use alternative method to test all our finished products.”

Current situation of the company ‘Caudaline’

Is the company cruelty-free now? What’s the current situation? Are they still testing the ingredients and finished products on an animal? So the answer is yes, the company still does the testing on animals. Currently, they are not doing the test themselves. It’s get done through their suppliers and third parties.

As mentioned above, Caudalie always submitted the registered proof of the finished products and ingredients tested on the animal because Chinese law needs a mandatory test. It gets confirmed that till now, the company is not cruelty-free.

Check the given screenshot of the Caudiale company website, which states that “We do not deny that our products are actually sold in China…that’s why we are carrying out lobbying campaigns in China while supporting local authorities..”

The company decided to export its products in mainland China has made their products to get tested on animals. Many other brands choose not to sell their products in China as they are truly cruelty-free brands. Unfortunately, Caudalie decided to continue selling its brand to put profit before innocent animals. The reason is clear enough to not consider Caudalie a cruelty-free brand.

Are Caudaline products 100% Vegan?

Another question that hinders everyone’s mind is Is Caudalie vegan?

As we are not considering this company as cruelty-free as they test the ingredients and final products on animals, we won’t even consider it 100% vegan.

The company claims that its ingredients do not contain any animal derivatives, and most of its products are made from plants such as grape, grapevines, medicinal flowers, etc. However, many products are made from beeswax and honey, such as Lip balm, French kiss, Conditioner, and Shampoo. It proves that these products are non-vegan.

In the past two decades, Caudalie has become one of the respectful and renowned companies. It has developed many harnessing products, which have been in the European market where animal cruelty got banned in the year 2013. However, it doesn’t conclude that Caudalie is Cruelty-free. The company’s cosmetics products still get tested on animals.

Steps to become a cruelty-free brand?

There are some notes about what’s needed to be a cruelty-free brand.

The animals should never be used by the companies to test their ingredients or finished goods.  The company has to get certified from CCIC’s Leaping Bunny program,The certificate must contain CCIC’s Leaping Bunny’s logo on it.  The product’s safety testing must get completed on regular notice.  Ensure the supplier or third party does not test your products on the animal.  Must not sell in the countries like Mainland China, where animals testing is mandatory by law.

Is Sephora the same as Caudalie in terms of being cruelty-free or vegan?

A similar case came up, same as Caudalie, where a brand claimed that its products are vegan. Sephora claims that the company’s products are made from plant and flowers extracts and are 100% vegan, but the brand isn’t even cruelty-free. It shows that there are still some more brands that are not cruelty-free. They still run it while the government is not taking any actions against them.

CONCLUSION

Caudalie is a renowned and respectful cosmetic brand famous for its saddle skincare products. However, they are testing the products on the animal, that’s why there should be no excuse for supporting these kinds of brands. It is a humble request to the people who are reading this article not to support these types of brands that are not cruelty-free. Try to share with more and more people, so that they can be aware of the company.
