Some–like me–found that without first upgrading the OS to version 5, they couldn’t install the Photoshop. And I hope I’m not the only one who discovered that updating my operating system also carried a risk of losing apps, songs, movies or anything else I had installed on the iPad....

As we already know, the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max get improved battery life that offers users more screen time for things like navigation and video playback. Despite that, Apple didn’t say anything technical about battery sizes. Today, new documents from Chinese regulatory agency TENAA reveal the exact specifications of the new iPhone batteries. According to that document, iPhone 11 has a 3,110 mAh battery, against the 2,942 mAh battery on last year’s base model iPhone XR....

New data released by Omdia today says that the iPhone 11 has usurped the crown of being the “world’s most popular smartphone” from the iPhone XR. According to data, Apple shipped 19.5 million iPhone 11 units during the first quarter of this year. For those unfamiliar with Omdia, the research company was established following the “merger of the research division of Informa Tech and the acquired IHS Markit technology research portfolio....

Much like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series smartphones, the iPhone 14 series also comes with a wireless charging option with Apple’s magnetic wireless charging capabilities. Apple does not provide the magnetic charger right out of the box, but this could be an essential accessory for people who charge their phones wirelessly. It has not been long since Apple launched their iPhone 14 series smartphones in the market, and we are already getting some news about some iPhone 14 smartphones(namely iPhone 14 and iPhone Plus) not charging wirelessly....

iPhone 8 render without front Touch ID Recent conflicting reports suggest Apple has not yet finalized the design of the flagship iPhone 8 this year in terms of how Touch ID will be implemented. If Apple introduces a new edge-to-edge display as expected, Touch ID will have to change from its bottom front location as the chin is dramatically reduced. The best case scenario based on rumors is that Apple manages to implement the fingerprint scanner into the new OLED display, although low yield rates may rule that out this year....

Update: There seems some potential good news ahead. Economic Times reports that the Indian government is considering an exemption to the checks for foreign companies like Apple. iPhone assembly in India has been badly disrupted as tensions with China continue to rise, says a new report. Components arriving from China are said to have been held in Indian customs in what seems to be the latest escalation of the fallout from a disputed border between the two countries…...

The tool will be made available through the PwnageTool software updater that is built-in and checked when you start PwnageTool. The developers note that PwnageTool 2.0.2 does not yet include a new version of the installer.app, which is currently being developed. The PwnageTool 2.0.2 version will jailbreak the latest iPhone 3G and iPod touch software, offering those who did not update to iPhone 2.0.1 firmware new features and stability, which those who did update will now be able to access jailbroken applications....

There is nothing worse than dropping your iPhone…except maybe dropping it into a lake. That is just an awful feeling. Not shamed by the occasion, 9to5mac reader Ken Hovanes shared his story of when he dropped an iPhone into Smith Lake roughly six months ago. A packaging photo has also leaked, although the validity is highly questionable. It appears to show packaging for the iPhone 6S Plus … The photo comes from Chinese website cnBeta. It’s low resolution which makes it hard to check for telltale signs of fakery, but it seems to show packaging for the larger 5.5 inch iPhone, seemingly ‘confirming’ the iPhone 6S Plus naming scheme. The packaging uses a wallpaper matching the style of the current iOS 9 betas, but with what appears to be a gold and black butterfly koi – an image not currently included in iOS 9 that would reference a classic Chinese symbol of wealth and prosperity....

It’s not too surprising that Apple’s new iPhone 6s Smart Case isn’t made to be easily opened for repairs. To get inside for its usual teardown routine, iFixit had to peel off the soft lining of the case by heating up the adhesive. It then had to remove three proprietary Apple screws to remove a metal reinforcement plate and get at the battery itself. So while you likely won’t be able to repair your new Smart Case without destroying it, we do get a look inside of the new product thanks to iFixit’s willingness to do so…...

Apple revealed in its holiday quarter earnings call that it was poor iPhone sales in China that led it to miss its original guidance so dramatically. A federal judge has ruled that iPhone water resistance claims made in Apple’s advertising may be misleading, but she has still rejected a proposed class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged that Apple misled consumers about the extent of the waterproofing, and therefore overcharged for the phones … CTV News reports. Judge Cote ruled that there was no evidence that Apple’s claims were misleading – only that a plausible allegation had been made – and the plaintiffs had also failed to show that their purchase decisions were based on any waterproofing claims by Apple....
