iPad mini 2021: Highlights For the first time in the history of the iPad mini, the tablet comes with an 8.3-inch display, as all previous models had a 7.9-inch screen. In addition, it’s a Liquid Retina Display with True Tone with rounded corners. The iPad Air 2020 features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display with True Tone. The new iPad comes in four colors: Pink, Purple, Space Gray, and Starlight. The latter is a cross between gold and white....

Fortune reports that a Flextronics executive was taped by FBI officials revealing iPhone sales numbers two and a half weeks before the official announcement as well as the existence of the iPad. Flextronics director Walter Shimoon had a conversation with an an unnamed “cooperative witness” in late 2009 in which he revealed: Apple, he is heard telling CW-2, was “coming out next year” with a new iPhone that’s “gonna have two cameras … It’ll be a neat phone because it’s gonna have a five-megapixel auto-focus camera and it will have a VGA forward-facing videoconferencing camera....

Yet more signs on the glorious march of the iPad as US emergency room doctors begin using the devices to order lab tests and medications; and other medical pros find other ways to deploy the Apple tablet. Chicago area doctors are increasingly using iPads as medical tools, accessing medical records, showing X-rays and other lab tests and more. A report from Chicago’s Sun Times tells us that next month, the University of Chicago Medical Center plans to provide iPads to all of its internal medicine residents, expanding on a pilot program launched earlier this year....

Analytics data from Adobe shows Cyber Monday projected to be the largest online sales day in history, with a total spend of $6.59B. iPads and AirPods were among the most popular purchases, and a comparison of iOS and Android mobile purchases show that Apple owners had the higher spend … Google Chromecast and Samsung tablets were also popular. Adobe also predicts a record holiday shopping season. The company says that as consumers become more savvy, already knowing where to find the best deals, there is less comparison shopping, which is often done on computers, making shopping on mobile devices ‘the new norm....

A report last month suggested that Apple was taken by surprise by better-than-expected iPhone 12 demand, boosting 2021 production plans by between 20% and 30% – and supporting evidence continues to accumulate. Counterpoint found that the iPhone 12 was the world’s best-selling 5G phone, Qualcomm’s dramatic boost in Q3 2020 revenue was largely credited to the new iPhone lineup, and other supply-chain sources pointed to reality matching the supercycle hype. During the September event, Apple announced a new digital video stabilization feature coming to its iPhone 14 lineup called Action mode. The demo videos looked pretty smooth and fluid, but naturally, I was skeptical and wanted to put it through some real-world tests. What is Action mode? According to Apple, Action mode aims to correct significant shakes, vibrations, and unintended motion when capturing video. This new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro option is integrated into the camera app as a toggle in the upper left when video mode is selected....

The replacement of the iPhone mini with a Plus model opens up a big question around the likely split of iPhone 14 sales. I’d expect a lot of people to go for the Plus, but a supply chain survey indicates that Apple expects most early buyers to opt for one of the two Pro models. Internet based TV (IPTV) seems to be gaining a ton of traction as of late. Make iOS 7 Easier to Read On your iPad or iPhone, go to Settings > General > Accessibility. Scroll down to the second section under Vision and there you’ll see settings for Larger Type and Bold Text. In Accessibility you can increase the dynamic type (text size) and provides a sample of the text as you adjust the slider. If you turn on Bold text throughout the OS, a restart of your device is required....

IM+ Pro, one of the best multi-client chat programs for iOS devices, has been updated with a location-based feature that makes it easy to find random chat participants nearby your current location. Developer Shape Services says Neighbors provides users “the opportunity to find new real life connections and friends with common interests”. This is interesting as we haven’t seen a beneficial integration of location, which is the latest fad, with chat services....

Martial arts star Scott Adkins is joining the cast of Ip Man 4, the latest installment in the biographical kung fu film series that tells the story of the famous Wing Chun grandmaster who trained Bruce Lee. Ip Man is played by Donnie Yen. Actor Scott Atkins became well known to martial arts fans for his co-starring roles in Undisputed II: Last Man Standing and a number of action films featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme....

Apple’s latest iPad mini 6 arrives as its most compact addition to the tablet lineup with all of the necessities you’d expect from the larger offerings. Apple is seeding iPadOS 16.1 beta 2 a few days after releasing iOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16 to all users. This beta was followed by a company’s statement a month ago saying it would delay the iPadOS release to improve some of its new features. Earlier last month, a Bloomberg report revealed that Apple was considering postponing the release of iPadOS 16 until October as the company was not happy with the Stage Manager experience....

Last September, one of the first iPhone 14 leaks claimed that the iPhone 14 would be the first iPhone model in years not to feature a camera bump of any kind. Although it seems likely that Apple will soon discontinue its legacy iPhone 3GS, some reports have said that Apple will retain the device as its cost-effective pre-paid option. Others, including us, have reported that Apple is preparing two next-generation iPhones for this fall: one as the successor to the iPhone 4 and one as a cheaper, possibly pre-paid model.
