Strong sales of the iPhone 14 helped TSMC increase its third-quarter revenue by 48%, at a time when other chipmaking companies are suffering. There have been fears that rising inflation and interest rates would dampen demand for the iPhone 14, but this appears not to be the case … TSMC recently reported record September revenues, and a Bloomberg analysis looks at the likely total for the company’s fiscal quarter. Chinese news site Commercial Times has claimed that iPhone supplier Wistron was caught using ‘unauthorized components’ in its production of the iPhone 8 Plus in China. The report says that Apple ordered the company to halt production when the issue came to light, with assembly suspended for two weeks … Digitimes reports that Wistron has issued a partial denial. The statement as reported does not deny that it was found using fake components, and leaves open the possibility that production was halted for a shorter period....

Netflix kicked off its corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in early 2015 with the debut of Daredevil season 1, followed later in the year by the first season of Jessica Jones. The streaming service continued to build out its street-level heroes with a second season of Daredevil and the freshman season of Luke Cage this year. However, 2017 will mark the first calendar year in which Netflix will release three Marvel series: the final of the four originally planned solo series, Iron Fist; the team-up miniseries The Defenders; and the Daredevil spinoff, The Punisher....

Following Tuesday’s announcement of new iPad models, Apple has confirmed that iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1 and other software updates will be released to the public next week. And now, the company has released new RC (Release Candidate) builds of these updates to developers and public beta users. Today’s build number is 20B79, compared to the previous build 20B5072b. Developers and public beta testers can now install the iOS 16.1 RC update by going to the Software Update menu within the Settings app on an iPhone or iPad enabled to get beta updates....

iCloud Drive was first announced at WWDC. This feature is Apple’s new approach to iCloud file syncing, replacing Documents and Data. The new interface acts more like Dropbox, with one central folder containing all iCloud documents in one place. This gives more flexibility over the model used by iOS 7 and Mavericks, where iCloud documents are siloed within their own app’s containers. At WWDC, Apple announced that iCloud Drive could be accessed from Mac, iOS devices or even PC’s (as shown by the iCloud Drive preview page)....
