iPhone 13 pre-orders officially kicked off this morning, with some buyers faring better than others due to bugs affecting Apple Card, Apple Pay, and the iPhone Upgrade Program. Now, the availability of certain iPhone 13 models has started to slip into October. The first iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max pre-orders are slated to arrive to shoppers on Friday, September 24. Some orders placed now, however, will arrive later than September 24....

Wall Street analyst Brian White is predicting Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 launch will confront weak consumer spending this fall. Just today, White had lowered his price target on Apple stock, dropping 1.9%. However, the company has been performing well as of late, despite White’s predictions. According to Investor’s Business Daily, Apple stock has been consolidating for 27 weeks at a buy point of $183.04. That buy point is 10 cents higher than the all-time high reached on January 4....

Apple has finally released the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and that means tons of new buyers are now becoming sellers—of their old phones. While it probably would have been best to sell that device a month ago to maximize its value, some people just didn’t have that luxury. iPhone assembler Foxconn has reported profits of T$17.49B ($567M) for the second quarter of the year. That represents its second quarterly fall … Reuters reports that it was also below analyst expectations. While Apple is a major client, it seems unlikely that iPhone production was to blame. Apple recently reported sales of 41.3M iPhones for the quarter, marginally up on the 41M in sold in the same quarter in 2017....

A well-known security researcher says that iOS VPN apps (virtual private networks) are broken, due to a flaw that he claims Apple has known about for at least two and a half years. This backs a previous report by ProtonVPN that a VPN vulnerability has been present on iOS devices since at least iOS 13....

The most important improvement will probably be a quad-core chip, SIRI and 4G LTE (I hope). Several Android tablets on the market already have most of these new features including the Asus’ Transformer Prime. Apple will no doubt work to catch up with the market and release something amazing no one has really thought of before. The new iPad will also sport an HD screen, the best one in the range so far....

Market intelligence firm Counterpoint is out with its latest report on the global tablet market, which shows that the iPad market share increased in Q1, year-on-year. Apple had already enjoyed 33% more iPad sales in 2020 than in 2019, and the data shows that the good news continued into the first quarter of this year … Counterpoint says that Apple’s share of the global tablet market grew from 30% in Q1 2020 to 37% in the same quarter this year....

The iPhone’s market share in Europe fell 17% year-on-year in Q2, according to today’s Canalys data. Apple did, however, hold its third-place position, behind Samsung and Huawei and ahead of Xiaomi and HMD Global. The market intelligence company says that iPhone European shipments fell from 7.7 million in Q2 2018 to 6.4 million in the same quarter this year… That 17% drop in sales saw Apple’s share of the European smartphone market fall from 17% to 14....
