The iPad is adding a handful of new features this year with iPadOS 15 that first came to the iPhone with last year’s release of iOS 14. One of those additions is support for the App Library that now comes default in the iPadOS dock. But if you want to remove the App Library from your iPad’s dock, it turns out that there’s a setting for that… Apple’s decision to put the App Library in the iPad’s dock was controversial when it was announced last week at WWDC 2021....

Apple pushed wireless charging as a flagship feature in the reveal of its latest iPhone 8 and iPhone X phones at the event yesterday, but there are also battery improvements for customers who don’t mind using a cable. iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X support fast charging. The latest Kantar data shows that iOS continued to grow its market share in all but three countries – with the iPhone 7 remaining the top-selling smartphone in the largest markets. In the three months ending January 2017, iPhone market share in the U.S. was up 2.9 points year-on-year to hit 42%. This was a 1.5% increase on the two-year record reported for the previous quarter. Apple has acknowledged iPhone XR connectivity problems on the UK’s second-largest carrier, O2. The problems experienced by some iPhone XR owners are severe, affecting calls, texts and data usage… The BBC reports that both Apple and O2 have confirmed the issue, with Apple promising a fix. O2 says that IT fix 101 — turning the phone off and on again — provides a temporary fix, but it’s unclear how long that lasts before the iPhone XR connectivity problems reoccur....

The New York Times says AOL is laying off a modest 100 employees, which is not surprising news for a company that is changing its whole model of business. One particular area, however, caught my eye: That does n0t sound like a business with a future. Only “support staff” means no development/security/improvements…or future. Enable a Simple or Complex Lock Screen Passcode This should go without saying, but it’s surprising how many iDevices I’ve borrowed and the owner doesn’t have a lock screen passcode. If you didn’t set one up during the initial setup, you can create one by going to Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Turn Passcode On. By default, it’s four digits — like a PIN.
