We’re less than three weeks away from the announcement of Apple’s iPhone 14 lineup. We expect the iPhone 14 to be introduced in September of 2022, and rumors suggest we could see a redesign, the biggest camera update in years, and more. A Taiwanese report says that Apple had told its suppliers to boost initial iPhone 14 production from 90M units to 95M, an increase of more than 5%. In response, lead iPhone assembler Foxconn is said to have substantially increased its recruitment bonus for iPhone workers … Taiwan’s United Daily News reports. The report suggests the move is a result of both Apple’s optimism over demand for this year’s line-up, and improvements to component availability....
Update: In the UK, the iPhone 5s has just gone on sale. Shipping estimates stand at 7-10 days. At the time of writing, all models are expected to be delivered in the first week of October. The iPhone 5s has just gone on sale in Australia. However, as has been noted several times, supply of the 5s is extremely constrained. As a result, Apple is already quoting 7-10 day shipping estimates for the device....

Alongside the iOS 14, Apple released the iPadOS 14 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference on 22nd June. Although there was no live audience to cheer this news, yet the feature list has plenty to cheer in itself. Although most of the features are based on the iPhone’s latest OS, there are some iPad exclusive ones as well. Add to it a few macOS visual updates as well, and the update looks far more polished than ever before....
The Washington Post is reporting that TMobile will carry the iPhone in Germany on November 1st. This is big news for a couple of reasons. It means that Apple is probably going with the “National Carriers” AT&T in the US (used to be a monopoly), Tmobile is Deutsche Telekom – the former government telecom. So from this we can likely assume that Vodafone (or more likely O2) in the UK and Orange in France will also be exclusive iPhone carriers...
Suppliers of iPhone 13 camera parts are giving priority to Apple orders, according to supply chain reports. Many of them supply components to a wide range of smartphone brands. The report says there are two reasons for Apple getting more of their output … First, they are making fewer than expected sales to Samsung. Second, Apple orders are said to be more stable and profitable than those from other brands....

November 8, 2022 Update: iOS 16.2 beta 2 is now available, and it includes the new Medications widget for the Lock Screen. iOS 16.2 beta 1 launched yesterday to developers with a handful of new features and changes. As it turns out, the update includes a new Lock Screen widget option for Sleep data from the Health app. There’s also a new Medications widget coming soon as well. While Americans got the new Apple News app as part of iOS 9, Brits are going to have to wait a little longer – it’s currently in the beta of iOS 9.1. As Engadget notes, that suggests it may be around a month (or more) away. But if you want to take a look now, you can, just by changing your region from the UK to USA. The folks at DXOMark have published their full review of the iPhone 12 Pro camera system. All in all, Apple’s new triple-lens camera array with LiDAR Scanner has earned a score of 128, placing it in the top five of DXOMark’s list of best smartphone cameras. DXOMark explains that the score includes a “Photo score of 135” and a “Video score of 112,” both of which help the iPhone 12 Pro’s case....
