BGR (not to be confused with PBR) got the latest Blackberry leak on their iPhone kil..competitor. Interesting timing. It looks pretty similar to iPhone version 1 overall in form factor. It has lots of buttons (see right) but most importantly, it runs the Blackberry software that millions of businesses have doing their enterprise email. Us IT people aren’t known to like switching platforms very often so no matter how good or bad it is, it will get adopted in a lot of businesses....

New photos claiming to show an x-ray view of the upcoming iPhone 8 have surfaced on social media site Weibo. Based on a large dark spot in the center of each image, the new photos further support the rumor that the new model will feature some form of wireless charging. The black splotch in the alleged iPhone 8 x-ray lines up with a previously leaked schematic from April with the same area for what is expected to be the inductive charging coil....

You won’t notice this functionality unless you hack the iPhone and add additional applications. When the number of applications overfills the screen, you are presented with dots above the dock items. If you swipe your finger horizontally like you do when browsing pictures, you will get a new page of desktop items. Very nice Apple. It is a system wide interface. If you go to the weather application and add more than one city, you will see these dots and be able to switch between the screen in the same way....

While Apple announced U.S. pricing of Apple Music at $9.99/month for an individual subscription and $14.99 for a family subscription, its UK and European sites have so far remained silent on pricing. But the latest iOS 8.4 beta appears to confirm that European pricing will be pound and Euro for dollar, individual subscriptions costing £9.99 month in the UK and €9.99 in Eurozone countries. The premium charged to European customers isn’t quite as bad as it sounds: US pricing doesn’t include sales tax, which varies by state, while UK and Eurozone prices both include VAT....

In redesigning the iOS Music application for iOS 8.4, Apple removed support for audiobooks from the app, electing to move it to the iBooks app. iBooks itself has gained an all-new audio player with support for swiping gestures to fast forward or rewind, view a chapter list, and more. iPhone 12 production at Foxconn plants is now running at maximum capacity, with production lines operating 24 hours a day. The company has reportedly introduced mandatory overtime for workers, and employees have been asked to forgo the eight-day national holiday beginning on October 1 … South China Morning Post carries the story. Foxconn is also offering retention and recruitment bonuses. Employee Wang Guofeng said overtime work had increased since summer and most workers were allowed to take only four days off per month....

iPhone 14 Pro availability continues to wane as the holiday shopping season enters full swing. Now, Apple partner Best Buy is warning that it is seeing strong demand for the flagship iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max devices, and it doesn’t have the supply to be able to keep up with that demand. Chinese display manufacturer BOE has been given the go-ahead for iPhone 14 screen production, despite having been caught cheating by Apple. The company changed the specs of the displays it was making for the iPhone 13, but this was detected by the Cupertino company – which ordered BOE to cease production. Pegatron – Apple’s secondary iPhone assembler alongside Foxconn – has said that it is optimistic about demand for high-end phones this year. Nikkei reports that CEO S.J. Liao made the remarks during a press conference ahead of the company’s year-end, noting that the company would be increasing its capital expenditure this year. Pegatron currently makes the iPhone 8, while the flagship iPhone X is made by Foxconn – a pattern rumored to be repeated this year....

The iPhone X didn’t just set a new record for iPhone pricing, it’s also reportedly doing the same for how well it holds its resale value. Liquidation specialist B-Stock says that high demand is seeing used models sell for an average of 85% of the original price … Even bulk purchasers, such as companies buying returns from retailers, are paying around 75% of retail. B-Stock says that this is a substantially higher percentage than previous iPhone models sold at the same time in the product life-cycle....
