Apple and Tesla make some of the most sought after products and the luxury device accessory company, Caviar is blending the two with its latest iPhone 11 Pro modification, the Cyberphone. Yep, a mashup of Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck with the latest flagship iPhone. Caviar is known for making outlandish versions of the latest iPhones, like gold and diamond-adorned models that cost over $100,000. Now the company has launched its latest iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max modification, called Cyberphone that brings the distinctive angular lines of the Tesla Cybertruck to Apple’s smartphones....

The iPhone 8 is widely reported to feature a front-facing 3D sensor which will enable face recognition for automatic unlock (supposedly replacing the need for Touch ID entirely). Moreover, code references suggest that the new OLED iPhone will be able to use that same sensor to enable even more sophisticated features, like automatically silencing notifications if the user is looking at the screen. Guilherme Rambo found references to the ‘TLAttentionAwarenessObserver’ class in the HomePod compiled source last night....

One of the most interesting and limited features available within the iOS ecosystem is Car Key. Launched in 2020, only a limited number of BMW models could be unlocked with the owner’s iPhone and Apple Watch. Now, Apple is expanding this feature to some Kia and Genesis vehicles. This limited list now includes the 2022 Genesis GV60 and G90 and the 2022 Kia Niro. To MacRumors, a spokesperson for Kia said the company “will have more information about Digital Key availability in the coming weeks,” while Genesis and Apple didn’t provide a comment at the time....

Scott Buck is no longer going to serve as the showrunner on Iron Fist, with Raven Metzner stepping in for season 2. After a string of successes, Marvel and Netflix experienced their first true disappointment with Iron Fist. iPhone 14 Pro demand was much higher than Apple expected, according to Trendforce data. It says that the company’s orders to suppliers had initially been for 50% of iPhone 14 models to be one of the two Pro models, but this has now been boosted to 60% – and may go as high as 65%. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a powerhouse franchise that has become a worldwide phenomenon, helping to usher in an of era comic book adaptations that left other big name studios scrambling to catch up. Marvel’s first success was 2008’s Iron Man, a film that starred Robert Downey Jr. as playboy millionaire Tony Stark, and laid the groundwork for a new series of interconnected characters and plots. What the studio created has grown exponentially since then, with Phase 3 gearing up to usher in Marvel’s Golden Age, producing and releasing 10 movies – 11 if The Inhumans moves forward as expected – from 2016 through 2019, ending with the two Avengers: Infinity War films in 2018 and 2019, respectively....

Update: We’ve heard this from an Apple Store employee and have an updated post: We’ve gotten numerous tips over the past few hours that Verizon iPads being shipped from China are being being returned to Apple mid-shipment. It isn’t certain why they are being returned but they appear to all be Verizon iPads, engraved and shipped via FedEX. This isn’t the first issue Apple has had with Verizon iPads. Earlier this year, Discussion forums went ablaze with complaints that were later fixed....

Counterfeit AirPods detection Code found in internal system files reveal that iOS 16 can detect counterfeit AirPods, which are becoming very popular around the world. Some of these counterfeit models are identical replicas of the original AirPods, and they can even trigger some system features such as automatic pairing and the battery indicator. With the new version of the operating system, iPhone and iPad will alert users when they try to pair counterfeit AirPods....

With no users reporting crippling issues on the developer version released yesterday, Apple has pushed out a second public beta of iOS 9.1 to users running the pre-release OS. The software update includes the new emojis from the first beta, and a new setting introduced in this build that allows users to disable contact photos in Messages. Yesterday Apple pushed out several other developer betas besides iOS 9.1, including tvOS and a new version of Xcode with support for pairing new Apple TV remotes with a Mac to test in the simulator....

While some have been disappointed that Apple hasn’t yet incorporated wireless charging technology into its devices, charging pads are really almost as clunky as wires: you still have wires going to the pads, and you have to put your device in a specific place to charge them. What we really want is true wireless charging, where power is beamed directly to the device through the air. Which is exactly what Energous has been demonstrating at CES with a system it calls WattUp, reports Engadget....

YouTube user UnboxTherapy has posted a new video detailing the dimensions of what looks to be the shell for the second generation iPad mini. The shell of the iPad mini appears to remain largely unchanged, but when compared to the casing for the upcoming 5th generation iPad, we can see that the two appear to be the same thickness. Good Technology, a company behind a BlackBerry-like enterprise messaging server, is out with their latest data report on mobile devices in the workplace, gathered from thousands of customers, including 40 of the Fortune 100. The full report (available here) shows the explosion of iPads, iPhones and Android handsets in the workplace in the period between December 2010 through March 2011. John Herrema, senior vice president of corporate strategy with Good Technology, said in a statement that the arrival of Verizon iPhone and release of iPad 2 helped Apple make strong enterprise gains....
