Ahead of Friday’s release of the iPhone 11 Pro, travel photographer Austin Mann has shared his early thoughts on the new camera hardware. The iPhone 12 lineup has hit a major milestone less than a year after its introduction: sales of over 100 million units. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, iPhone 12 sales crossed the 100 million unit mark in April 2021, two months earlier than the iPhone 11 and nearly in line with the iPhone 6. Six hours after originally taking its online store down, Apple has now made the iPhone 8, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Watch Series 3 available for preorder. Iron Fist Season 2 is already fixing one of the first season’s greatest problems. Although the Season 1 of Iron Fist was a success in terms of viewing figures, it was hardly a popular and critical hit. Audiences were particularly unimpressed with what should have been one of the show’s highlights, the fight scenes. Update: Activision officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and its release date! It looks like this year’s Call of Duty installment will be Black Ops 4. Activision brought the world famous shooter video game franchise back to its roots with Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WWII last year. The franchise had been getting more and more ridiculous with its futuristic settings and weaponry, and it’s clear by WWII’s success that fans wanted a return to form for the series, akin to DICE’s quasi-reset with Battlefield 1 in 2016....

Update: The Wall Street Journal reports that the clipboard bug will be fixed in next week’s software update, along with a fix for the OIS camera rattling bug afflicting some iPhone 14 Pro owners. Seemingly starting in the release version of iOS 16, many iPhone users are seeing an annoying behavior where the system presents a clipboard paste permissions prompt (almost) every time the user tries to paste some text from another app....

One new feature of the Apple TV update spotted by MacMagazine.com.br (via MacRumors) is the ability to reorganize icons on the main UI. Much like the wiggling animation when reordering icons on iOS devices, holding the Select button will allow you to move icons while others reorder automatically the same as on iPhone and iPad....

Last week, Apple seeded the first beta of the upcoming iOS 9.2 release to developers, and we’ve discovered that the new update will add support for Arabic in Siri. Apple previously built in the fundamental elements of understanding Arabic to iOS by adding Arabic support to the Keyboard Dictation and QuickType features in iOS 8 last year. Apple adding Arabic support to Siri follows up on Apple expanding its retail presence to the United Arab Emirates by opening up a pair of flagship stores in Abu Dhabi and Dubai....

Following Apple’s announcement of record-breaking app sales in the holiday shopping season, Asymco’s Horace Dediu did some number-crunching, and came up with some surprising facts. Not least among them is the clear pointer that iOS app sales will be worth more than the entire worldwide movie industry at some point this year … Dediu noted back in 2015 that App Store billings overtook gross US box office takings, and observed then that it was only a matter of time before the same would be true globally....

We haven’t heard hardly any rumors about Apple Pencil support arriving with this year’s iPhones but one case manufacturer has created a sketchy listing for an iPhone 11 Pro case with an Apple Pencil slot on the back. Olixar has listed its iPhone 11 Pro Case on UK retailer MobileFun’s website. The case is up for pre-order for £20 and includes just one image of the product showing off storage for a miniaturized Apple Pencil....

Some things don’t change, they simply improve Change is not about numbers and that stands especially true in the case of a new iPhone. Looking from afar, the cameras on the iPhone 12 might look exactly the same as the ones on iPhone 11, and stepping closer might not change that view either. Numerous, the number tracking app for iPhone, previewed a new version of the app over the summer with several features that take advantage of iOS 8. Today the update is live and includes support for HealthKit to read data from Apple’s Health app, a Today widget in Notification Center for glancing at numbers you track, and added AirPlay support for displaying an optimized version of your numbers on Apple TV....

The iPhone throttling controversy isn’t over yet. In addition to DOJ and SEC investigations and lawsuits in the US, the company has just been fined €10M ($11.4M) by the Italian government … Reuters reports that the fine was announced today – alongside one for Samsung. Consumers had complained that both companies were using software updates to deliberately degrade performance in an effort to push them into buying new devices. Apple was hit with an additional five million euro fine for failing to give clients clear information about how to maintain or eventually replace handset batteries […]...
