Apple Music is launching simultaneously in 100 countries along with iOS 8.4. The update will be rolled out in batches, so it might take a while for everyone to get it. Along with the Music app, the update also includes audiobooks support in iBooks and CarPlay and general bug fixes. For desktop users, Apple Music with Beats 1 radio will require iTunes version 12.2. The iPhone 8 launch has seen Apple return to growth in China after six consecutive quarters of declining sales in the world’s most populous country. Ireland has debuted its COVID-19 Tracker application today, its solution to help contract trace and slow the spread of coronavirus. The app is built using the Exposure Notification API developed by Apple and Google, and users in Ireland can download it from the App Store now as well as Google Play. The COVID-19 Tracker Ireland application was released to the App Store today by the Health Service Executive, which is the agency responsible for the provision of health and personal social services for everyone living in Ireland....

A recent blog posting claimed the entry-level 8GB iPod touch will be introduced at $149, a price which would immediately widen the company’s market. What if Apple were to do something like it has done with the iPhone and kept a previous generation model (8GB iPhone 3G@$99) around at an incredibly low price? Sell the iPod Touch 2G without camera, compass, or GPS for $149?...

Apple today officially introduced iOS 15 with a slew of new features for iPhone users. The update also brings new features for Home Screen widgets, one of the most popular features Apple has introduced in a long time. The latest enterprise market share data from Good Technology shows that iOS holds two-thirds of the market, at 67 percent, but has dropped five points to Android – which increased its share to 32 percent. Windows Phone remains flat (and irrelevant) at just 1 percent.
